Spain Crowned FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Champions

Warsaw, September 27, 2026 : Spain were crowned champions of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, beating North Korea 4-3 on penalties after a goalless draw in the final, played in Poland on Saturday.

It is Spain's second title in the competition, following their triumph in 2022.

North Korea, who won the title in Colombia in 2024, were seeking to retain the trophy and further extend their record in FIFA women's youth competitions. Spain denied them on both counts.

With two titles, Spain now trail only the United States, Germany, and North Korea, who have each won the tournament three times.

Spain enjoyed a strong campaign on their way to a second world title. They opened the group stage with a 2-0 win over Nigeria, then thrashed New Caledonia 11-0 and beat China 3-1. In the Round of 16 they overcame Portugal 2-0, before edging Brazil 1-0 in the quarter-finals and beating Italy 2-0 in the semi-finals to reach the final.

After 90 goalless minutes against North Korea, Spain prevailed in the penalty shootout to lift the trophy for the second time in their history.
